This Gallery is not a list of attractions. Walking, cleansing, listening, praying and resting—it is a small photographic story tracing the time spent in each place and the moments that awakened the senses.
Before any footsteps arrived, the shrine stood veiled in morning mist, suspended between sea and mountain. Even the tide seemed to lower its voice, leaving the island to wake in a silence filled only with prayer.
ITSUKUSHIMA SHRINE · MIYAJIMAAfter the rain, the stone lane held a faint reflection of the night. With no one else in sight, each step revealed an older, quieter Miyajima—one that seems to return only before the island fully wakes.
MIYAJIMAIn the early morning, the stream and the scent of wet earth were the only companions along the path. With every step away from the present, it felt as though an older Miyajima had been waiting there, quietly unchanged.
HYOTAN SAJIKI · MIYAJIMAAfter the visitors had gone, a mother deer slowed her pace to match every uncertain step of her newborn fawn. Each time she turned to check on the little one, an unexpected corner of Miyajima revealed the quiet depth of a parent’s love.

Looking up at its bell tower and quiet cross, we felt both astonishment and reverence for those who chose, from the midst of profound loss, to build a place devoted to peace and the future.

Looking up at the figure lifting a crane toward the sky, we felt both the sorrow of lives lost too soon and a quiet promise never to repeat the same future.
HIROSHIMA PEACE MEMORIAL PARKThrough the arch of the cenotaph, the Atomic Bomb Dome stands in solemn view. In this single line, a place of prayer meets a witness to history. The sight gently reminded us that learning from the past is itself part of protecting peace for the future.

To see such vivid colour gathered in a place born from profound loss felt deeply moving—a quiet sign that hopes for peace are still travelling from across the world to Hiroshima.

Their blossoms, emerging from deep mud, seemed to echo Hiroshima’s journey beyond its wounds and toward the future. As the bell’s sound carries into the distance, we wished that this quiet peace might continue for generations to come.

MITAKI-SOU · HIROSHIMAWearing a kimono—something she rarely has the chance to do—filled my wife with an almost childlike excitement. We were told that the kimono reveals its finest beauty from behind, in the sculpted obi and the graceful line of the collar. Watching her walk toward the garden, we understood that dressing itself can be an encounter with Japanese aesthetics. We would love for our guests to experience this same delight and the quiet beauty revealed in every step.
OKEIKO JAPAN · HIROSHIMAEach wind chime shaped by the artisan’s hand had been given a name of its own. Beyond the clear summer notes, we sensed the maker’s care for every form and sound. Now rarely encountered, this quiet tradition kept a memory of the Japanese summer alive within Mitakisou.
MITAKI-SOU · HIROSHIMAStepping into the garden after dinner, it was easy to forget that we were still in the heart of the city. The pond and trees rested almost motionless, while only the summer cicadas carried through the air. Even their chorus seemed to belong to the garden’s profound stillness.
MITAKI-SOU · HIROSHIMAKoi that had been gliding gracefully across the pond slowly gather when they sense food in our hands. Feeding them is one of our favourite moments at Shukkeien—a small delight that turns a garden admired from afar into a place that suddenly feels close and alive. It is a pleasure we would love our guests to share.
SHUKKEIEN GARDEN · HIROSHIMABeyond the windows of the French restaurant, the soft colours of sunset slowly dissolve into the water. Illuminated architecture and an ornate Japanese folding screen meet in quiet harmony, bringing a distinctly Japanese grace to this contemporary setting. There is nowhere to hurry—only time to watch the light change and savour the unhurried rhythm of evening.
